Sam Page Fights Predators
Legislation Will Block Sex Offenders From College Dormitories
Representative Sam Page (D-82) has filed legislation to block convicted sexual predators from living in college dormitories, House Bill 1352.
“Sex offenders aren’t thieves or drug addicts, but their crime threatens the safety of other students,” said Page. “Too often sex offenders are not rehabilitated. They are still susceptible to commit another crime. Students and parents of students deserve to know that the school dormitory is a safe environment.”
Sexual assault is a major concern for students and parents on a college campus. Dormitories have a large concentration of young men and women, co-ed floors and unlocked doors. This makes the dorm building tempting to would-be sexual predators. Page’s bill will stop convicted sex offenders from living in college dormitories.
Representative Page filed a similar bill last year that passed both chambers in the General Assembly but died on the last day in the House before receiving final approval.
Page, a physician, earned his medical degree at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He resides in Creve Coeur and represents parts of St. Louis County.
